Chris prepared bid ready PS & E plans for the intersection of Gary Road / Skyline Drive in advance of the Hunt Highway construction. This intersection was bid as its own project in order to complete construction before the paving operations were underway on Hunt Highway. Hunt Highway Phase II improvements are complete and now into Phase IV.

Lead traffic engineer. Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Pinal County worked together to improve this intersection which lies on the County Line between the two jurisdictions. In order to improve traffic operations prior to the completion of the Hunt Highway widening project, the project team decided to widen the intersection of Gary Road/Empire Boulevard and upgrade the span-wire traffic signal to a permanent, Pinal County owned signal. Chris served as lead traffic engineer responsible for the traffic signal design and coordination with SRP resolving multiple overhead clearance issues between the new signal equipment and the existing transmission lines.

Bella Vista Road / Gantzel Road

Pinal County, AZ

Lead traffic engineer. This project extends Gantzel Road south of Bella Vista Road to eventually connect with Hunt Highway. The first phase of this project included reconstructing the existing intersection of Bella Vista Road/Gantzel Road to include a widened south leg that matches the existing north leg of the intersection. In conjunction with these improvements, Chris prepared a traffic analysis which determined the lane configurations and turn lane storage requirements at the intersection taking into account future traffic patterns that would result from the extension of Gantzel Road south to Hunt Highway. The existing and new turn lanes at the intersection were also sized appropriately based on Pinal County standards and the traffic volumes calculated in the traffic study. Chris was responsible for the traffic signal modification design at the intersection which was upgraded with new ADA pedestrian ramps and push buttons.
